No Weapon formed against me shall prosper

Drowning in Racism...

The leather whipped prospered.  The slavery system prospered. The plantation owner prospered. The prison industrial complex is prospering. The white supremacist police is still prospering. The stolen history is prospering. The shotguns prospered. The raping of black women and children prospered. The lynchings prospered. The plantation owner prospered. The children of the slave owners are still prospering. The white owned media is prospering. Racist Hollywood is prospering.

Growing up I used to always hear this Bible scripture. But is this quote true?  I look at all the horrific things that Whites,Jews and Arabs have done to my people. But when I look at history it seems all the weapons our enemies used against us have prospered.  And they are still prospering! It’s time for us to wake up from fantasy land and get back to reality!

Plantation Retreats- Black Degradation and White Depravity

Flag1..

Retreat1..

Those who have loved and dated across the color line have to negotiate the realities of race in our society, and by extension, its impact on their relationships. For many, this is done through explicit conversations. For others, these dialogues come implicitly, through gestures, and taken for granted shared assumptions.

But how many folks actually talk about how race impacts their own sexuality, attraction, physicality, or notions of the erotic?
We live in a society that is structured around many different hierarchies of power, authority, and difference. As Foucault brilliantly observed, Power is not sitting out there in the ether, an abstraction that we just talk about in philosophy classes. Power acts through and upon bodies. Certain people are racialized in American society for example. Their bodies are locations of power–and yes resistance. Likewise, certain types of bodies are marked as “normal,” while others are deemed “different” or “abnormal.”
The “popular” imagination holds many assumptions about particular types of bodies. The black male body is something to be policed, controlled, and feared. It is both envied and despised. The Asian female body is “erotic” and “submissive.” The black female body alternates between being fecund, always available, and out of control, while simultaneously being marked as “masculine,” asexual, and unattractive. Latinas are “hot” and “sexy.” White bodies of a certain type are taken as the baseline for what is considered “beautiful” or “normal.”
Mandingo2..
Ironically, the bodies of black and brown people which are considered beautiful or attractive by the white gaze are judged as such either by how “different” they are from white norms (the exotic or savage) or how close these racialized bodies–almost like impostors or stand-ins–are to the normalized white body.
The very language we use to discuss race, the physical, and the sexual, is a quotidian example of Power in action. But, how are matters complicated when a significant part of a given person’s sexuality, and sense of the erotic, is centered on playing around with the dynamics surrounding dominance and submission?
Consider the following passage from the Colorlines article “Playing with Race”:
Bed wench...

Contrary to popular notions, BDSM is not about abuse. It’s consensual and trusting and people refer to it as “play” (as in “I want to play with you”). The point of BDSM is not sexual intercourse. In fact, when Williams recalls her first experience as a masochist seven years ago, she says she met her partner, a white man, at a bar and “fell in love at first sight.” They made their way back to his hotel. “For the first time I felt someone could see who I really was.” And that was someone who found it erotic to be a submissive to her partner.

In recent years, Williams has added another element to her repertoire as a masochist. She’s begun to engage in what is called “race play” or “racial play”—that is getting aroused by intentionally using racial epithets like the word “nigger” or racist scenarios like a slave auction.

Race play is being enjoyed in the privacy of bedrooms and publicly at BDSM parties, and it’s far from just black and white. It also includes “playing out” Nazi interrogations of Jews or Latino-on-black racism, and the players can be of any racial background and paired up in a number of ways (including a black man calling his black girlfriend a “nigger bitch”). White master seeking black slave, however, seems the more popular of the combinations.

I could not engage is such types of role-playing. My personal politics would not allow it; my libido would not respond.

That is my choice. I do not deny others their pleasure.

Mandingo3..

However, as someone interested in the relationship between race, politics, and racial ideologies, I am fascinated by how individuals negotiate white supremacy and Power.

Are people like Williams or Mollena more “evolved” and “progressive” than those of us who cannot decouple the realities and burdens of race from their bodies and psyches in the present? Alternatively, could this deep sense of both owning and living in a racialized body, be turned into a location for pleasure and catharsis:

Vi Johnson, the black matriarch of BDSM, has presented on race play at kinky conferences and she believes the appeal is different for each person. “When you’re being sexually stimulated, you’re not thinking that what’s stimulating you is a racist image, ” she says. “You’re just getting turned on.”

So, for some, she says, race play is about playing with authority and for others, it might be humiliation.

Well-known sexuality and SM educator Midori, who is Japanese and German, often presents her theory that humiliation in BDSM is linked to self-esteem. Take the woman who likes it when her boyfriend calls her a “slut,” Midori says. Perhaps the woman internalized the idea that “good girls don’t,” but she enjoys her sexuality. Because the boyfriend sees her in all her complexity, Midori says, when he calls her a slut, “he is freeing her of the social expectations of having to be modest.”

That’s different than having some stranger (and jerk) calling you a slut. The stranger doesn’t see the full woman. It’s similar with race play, Midori says. By focusing, for example, on a black man’s body, while he’s bound as a slave, she’s bolstering his own perception of himself as strong and powerful…

Her workshop demonstrations have included full auction scenes mimicking those of the Old South. In them, she is the plantation mistress inspecting a black man for “purchase.” He’s in shackles and “I slap him on his face and push him down on the ground, make him lick my shoes,” she says, emphasizing that she only does the demonstration after the “psychological” talk.

In the interest of transparency, I am a sex positive person (at least according to the survey on yourmorals.org). In many ways, I am also a bit of a libertine and a hedonist who is comfortable in both exclusive and open relationships. I also have certain predilections and tastes that more “vanilla” folks could find “kinky” or “different.” Ultimately, I am just myself, and do not know how to pretend to be anyone else.
I am also full of contradictions and complications as sexuality and the erotic are not neatly bounded constructs (for example, I do not like watching interracial porn where white men have aggressive sex with black women as chattel slavery looms too large in my mind; however, I have no problems watching black men have aggressive sex with white women). I have also dated many women from a range of racial backgrounds: I love women; I love variety.
I share those details not to titillate; rather, because while I am rendering a judgement of sorts, I would not want to sound “judgmental.” The difference is a subtle, but nonetheless, an important one.
One of the questions I will be asking Viola Johnson from the Carter Johnson Leather Library when I interview her in the next few weeks (fingers crossed) is how do we separate more “healthy” types of race play from those encounters that are rooted in disdain for the Other and white supremacy. Are these just inter-personal contracts or do these types of sexual relationships gain power (and are made erotic) precisely because of how they signal to larger societal taboos?
If the website Fetlife is any indication, there is apparently a not insubstantial number of people who engage in sexual roleplaying and BDSM using the motif of chattel slavery in the antebellum South. A cursory review of the member profiles suggests that many of these people are white supremacists. This is apparently not a deterrent to the black men and women who want to “serve” these white masters.
Race play...

Here a white “slave owning” master offers some insight on race play and “plantation retreats”:

My major kink-interest is in chattel slave-ownership in today’s world but following the historical models of 8,000 years of historical slave-ownership tradition (from Greek-Roman through modern day)…along with everything that might relate to it (which sometimes can go pretty far into the realm of BDSM activities, depending on the partner). I’m very knowlegble in the field of historical slavery.

Some of my other non-kink interests include history and philosophy, classic cars, music, science, singing and writing lyrics, architecture, comparative culture, language, reading and counseling..

I get a lot of questions about “Plantation Retreat”…so here are some basic facts:

My goal in creating and hosting Plantation Retreat is to provide a safe and welcoming, private place (and opportunity) for White Masters and plantation slaves/niggers to meet and explore their mutual fantasies. I get a lot of questions and answer many individual questions. To simplify things…here is some general basic information:

The gathering lasts for up to 2 weeks this year, with the main gathering around the 4th of July…folks can stay as long or as short a time as they want (some stay even longer). Masters can stay at the compound here or in a hotel if they want to (as can any personal slaves that they bring with them or any other slave that is ordered to do so).

Slaves arriving on their own stay here and are considered (and protected) as property of the plantation or my personal property.

Slaves sign up for a specific length of service. Slaves can specify what their limits are or that they will serve in any way the Master/guests desire. Sex is not required, but depends on individual choice (as do other activities). Most Masters desire to use slaves sexually in addition to normal domestic services. Some slaves are used only for hard labor. A slave’s assignments and duties are based on its experience and ability-level (some require whipping or punishment). Masters have their own king or queen bed (up to 5 available); slaves sleep where they are told to sleep (unless they are ordered into a Master’s bed and allowed to sleep there). Normally a slave sleeps at the foot of a Master’s bed, but some can be chained or caged elsewhere.

The minimum requirement for slaves is that they be obedient and respectful of all Masters and work to give the Masters and enjoyable time. This can be anything from preparing and serving drinks and meals, doing housework or yard work, to providing sexual relief on demand, to hard labor in the compound (depending on the slave’s previously-stated limitations). Slaves should expect Masters to be totally comfortable and free in using humiliating or degrading racist speech in referring to or speaking to mud-slaves. It’s not all punishment and misery for slaves…there is plenty of time for camaraderie and playful fun also. Some slaves even form a brotherly bond with the other slaves that serve with them. Masters also form lasting bonds and friendships based on their mutual interests and sharing slaves.

It’s just a small friendly gathering of White Masters at my house/compound….being served by mud-slaves as might have been in a modern version of slave-days. one might call it a situation of consensual non-consent/slavery. Slaves can set their limits and the time they will be in service as slaves in advance…. and also what they expect to learn and experience from the experience. The more that a slave lets me know about itself in advance, the better I can guide its growth from the experience.

Backstage racism mates with BDSM, the eroticization of the black body, and finds a place online through a variant of cyber-racism. Amazing. We do in fact live in interesting times.

White supremacy is a mental illness. Western (and global) society is sick with it. All of us, across the color line, have been impacted by white supremacy and white racism. But who are we to judge how adults in a consensual relationship decide to work through its pain and ugliness?
As is per our tradition at WARN, here are some concluding questions.
Have any of you engaged in race play? For those of you in inter-racial relationships, how do you negotiate these bigger questions of race and the erotic? If our kinks and sexual predilections are in some way a function of life experience, trauma, early childhood experiences, etc. what happened in the life of a black person who is willing to play a slave for the pleasures of white racists?

Breaking the Woman like a Horse:Plantation Tales

Slave3..

Slave2..

The urban legend of Willie Lynch according to some, was and is a fake. However, fake or not, whomever it was that first put that information out into the public realm did touch a raw nerve amongst members of the African family. In the Willie Lynch letter, we gleam the essence of how the devil in tight leggings used criminality and terrorism to manufacture the Knee-grow out of an African. Numerous documentations, slave narratives, first hand accounts by none slaves (which gives them more authenticity I guess) and films have described the various methods used to commit or attempt to commit genocide on African peoples in America Inc.

Amongst the issues African people have had to contend with, is the division between the Male and female.  Since people are the base of any cultural imperative, creating a dysfunctional relationship amongst the people has to start with breaking the accord between the African male and female, who together enforces and re-enforces the concept of culture, community, and our story of our existence.

Breaking the horse and the hue-man

The various ways to “break” a horse can all be effective, but some ways have unwelcome side-effects, such as influencing the disposition, much like rearing a child with dominance instead of positive communication can make for a violent or submissive adult.

“You can buck ’em out, snub ’em up, sack ’em out, throw ’em down, desensitize them, dominate them into submission, use tack-less training, or any of the other systems offered by professional trainers. However, any method that might lead to injury or pain or discomfort can be costly in time or money as well as physical and emotional well-being for horse and/or rider. Other methods also require timing and knowledge that inexperienced people simply do not have. The bottom line should be safety for horse and rider, and maximum comfortableness for both.”

This is the essence of what the Willie Lynch letter described as the most ideal for manufacturing a knee-grow. This link details further, the Willie Lynch design for handling a knee-grow and is the basis for how the African male and female act and relate to each other today, and how the female specifically acts and reacts to the world around her. This link is very important because in it one can see where the separation begins. Reading further should bring clarity to our over standing of the methods and means of designing and manufacturing the knee-grow.

African people trying to access the “new” media is the latest path we’ve used for self expression that unfortunately ends up making us look like parodies of our selves. African woman yearn so much to fit into the Anglo-Saxons ideals of beauty and success that they manifest, as a form of “liberation expressions” for African woman, the same neurotic behavior we accuse Anglo-Saxon females of indulging in. The differences are the Anglo-Saxon female’s neurosis is codified within their cultural and social expressions and worldview, while the African woman codifies her neurosis from a foreign cultural platform. This foreign platform with no African foundation, denies the African female the necessary cushion to fall back on when her neurosis is in need of treatment.

Sex and the female images

Sarah Baartman

For the longest time National Geography’s pictorials of indigenous women, bare breasted or naked, except for a strip of cloth over the pubis, has been the average Western (primarily Anglo-Saxon) male’s introduction to non western peoples. Anglo-Saxon women, in seeking to wrestle back their femininity from their paternalist sexual oppressors, misunderstand the “naturalness” of these indigenous women and mislabel it as sexual freedom.  In their eyes, they should be allowed to express their freedom to be scantily clad or naked will these Neanderthal brutes can admire her feminine sexuality without touching her uninvitingly, accept her without wanting to clutch at her and respect her without conditions.

This is where the neurosis of the Anglo-Saxon women plays its most dangerous role. On one hand there is a brutish, paternalistic system, based on millennium long belief that the woman is a tool for sexual gratification or breeding. She is then easily cast aside when his interest in her wanes, primarily has she gets older, or another young female comes along.  On the other hand, we have the female, desirous, of being wanted by her companion, wanting to be respected by him as much more than a breeder or a sex object, who uses her body FIRST, to entice and compel her man to respect her and treasure her.  She gladly spreads her legs and shows her ass in literary magazines like Playboy, Hustler and the appropriately named swine.  She exposes her neediness in many forms, primarily as willing sexual objects, yet decries the lack of respect she receives as a thinking intellectual human being.

African women, who grew up worshipping the many attributes and ways of the Anglo-Saxon female, see them doing little or no wrong as they embark on what Einstein says is “doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.  The African female strives to emulate the Anglo-Saxon female in everything she does.  This includes using sex and the availability of sex to get attention, get a “good catch”, to give a head, to get ahead economically or socially. A part of the learned mainstream American culture is sexism and misogyny. Even though the Caucasian male is the most sexist and misogynistic of his kind, he is savvy enough to dress his anti-female hatred in art.  Whether it be visual, performing or literary, his control of the medium of expression, information and education, makes him the source of all that is, considered desirable.

Nicki..

Due to our Maafa, creating a new breed of people called the knee-grow, we have a tempered plate on which Willie Lynches metaphorical sons have dragged the African women from her perch as roundly developed being, complementary to her opposite and more importantly …knowing herself from a African specific perspective.

A cursory view of images of beauty standards will show examples such as this. The African female after being conditioned by the Willie Lynch methodology, then becomes a scarred victim, emotionally wounded and susceptible to influences from outside herself. This includes the parody of manhood that the African male had become. The African woman is taught to bare her burden silently, to accept her inferior position, while expected to be the backbone of the family, taking care of the children, while her man is out in the cold world foraging for “bread”. The African woman had become that broken horse, unable to resist the influence of a tamed existence, and despite the odd “wild cards” such as Harriet, Mary McLeod Bethune, etc., by the time the late 20th century rolled around, she had become a pliable “material”, to be molded by a succession of outside influences and ready to be “mounted” by who ever wants to.

The numerous influences include the feminist movement, the black power movement, the civil rights movement, affirmative action, welfare, capitalism running amok and religion. The media was and still is the greatest purveyor of negative influence over the African community world wide, none more significant than the so called “standard of beauty” portrayed in this medium.  The standard of beauty is more than just an image per say, but an emotional roller coaster of cultural denial and self-rejection that continues the devastating effect of Willie Lynch’s fabled design.

Entertainment mediums show sex videos and mainstream movies, transmit, promote, and perpetuate negative images of African women as sex objects. Today’s music videos exhibit dancing women wearing bikinis, flashing their body parts to the cameras. These images are shown accompanied by vulgar lyrics that routinely suggest that women are not worth anything more than money. Hollyweird’s depiction of African women range from some of the most vile, cartoonish images of yesterday, to some of the nastiest, cartoonish images we see today. The African women is promoted as being only good for giving up sex, described as whores and good enough to be the consorts of a pimp, power brokers or broke down ghetto queens. The image of the African woman is now glorified as that of prostitutes, while violence is permitted against them. Halle Berry, a talented actress, recently won an Oscar for spreading her legs for the very same rapist Caucasian male, who murdered her husband, yet somebody like Angela Bassett couldn’t win one for her powerful performance as Tina Turner, one of many powerful performances in a brilliant career.

How many of you were aware that knee-grow men and women lobbied the porn industry to include them prominently in that industry?. Claiming that they are being discriminated against through exclusion.  Imagine that!  Porn was created by Caucasian males to satisfy their less than animal urges and we are pissed when we are not included. This is equity misguided.  Today the knee-grow woman proudly shows of her labia in medium such as the now tame sex magazine, to the more raunchy, internet porn. In fact a majority of pornography involving knee-grows, are that of Caucasian men performing all manner of sexual degrading acts on knee-grow women.  You even have this phenomona where groups of Caucasian males would travel around the country, stopping young females and offering them cash, to suck them or have sex with them on video. They have whole productions where different teams of knee-grow and caucasian males, separately pay knee-grow females to whore for cash.

The broken in woman grows at odds with her man, chastising him for a variety of real and imagined reasons, being lazy and good for nothing, all the while her sons and daughters are taking lessons on how a woman is “supposed” to act.

Many broken in African women seeking to pick up the pieces of their shattered femininity, becomes a target for the vultures in the feminism movement. They are trained to verbally or psychologically abuse men and call it being strong. When the knee-grow male and female hears “submit to your nature”, both hear a different thing. The male hears “act like a dog”, the female hears, “ submit physically and emotionally to a man”.

Angry couple

Due to the damage done to her psyche, the knee-grow woman had developed a warped understanding of relationships and the type of relationships healthy enough to assist her in her personal goals. It is a woman’s nature to be attracted to the image of a strong powerful male. It is submitting to her nature to want to be taken care of protected by the male. It is her nature to want to nurture and support him. However the lack of cultural transition to adult as a child forces the young females to develop her own understanding of what strong and powerful should be. There’s an old joke , where the woman asked the man, why doesn’t he love her anymore? When he asked why she would say that? She would reply, “well you don’t beat me anymore”, is indicative of the sickness infecting our souls. When young women, fantasize about wanting a thug, looking for thug love and having a thug as her man, she has distorted that need to be protected by a strong powerful male.

Strong Woman..

Allowing herself to be objectified is never a sign of a “strong” woman, neither is acting like the stereotypical “bitch”, man hater or substitute male. The latter two seems to be promoted in the homosexual or business community. From a purely psychological point of view, a man will feel justified in committing physical or psychological violence against women he has objectified. The fact that many of these women co-sign the prevailing attitude in, Hollywood and society in general, embolden these misogynistic louts to continue degrading women. Some of these women co-sign the prevailing attitude by willingly allow themselves to be used as video girls, silver screen ho’s and, as is more popular now, internet ho’s. Dance clubs, back stages of concerts and around the locker room, are flooded with women who express their willingness to do anything sexually with a man to get drinks, money, jewelry, or just to feel privileged and wanted by someone famous.

These types of behaviors have been past down to today’s generation after the breaking in process, during the MAAFA, when African woman were forced to spread their legs, willingly or unwillingly for slave masters and overseers for their animalistic pleasures, and the enslave male for breeding. African women were sometimes used as breeding instruments to produce more human property, and at other times forced to give sex to pay for food, the safety of her children, or to be treated less harshly on a day to day basis. They were “paying” with their bodies as a survival strategy.

Out of this emerged the stereotype of our women as promiscuous and oversexed, and this shaped our women’s sexual morality and the belief by other ethnic groups of our sexual morality. Some started to look at themselves as society viewed them, and some accepted that they had no control over their own bodies. When trying to fit into the Caucasian society, after the Maafa and take on ascribed Anglo-Saxon gender roles. Some knee-grow men wanted the knee-grow women to have a subordinate role in the home while some women wanted men to be the sole economic providers and use their sexual power to receive economic gain from men. They have been, for the most part, unable to meet each other’s expectations. This is why as a youth worker I see young men acting passive while learning to manipulate women by offering money and power to them.

I’ve heard of the metal girls syndrome, where many knee-grow males learning to value economic resources and used these resources as a way to manipulate and control women. In addition, some women learn to negotiate with their bodies for things that they wanted.  In order to gain access to these things and to get the love and attention from men that they want, some women felt they must cater to the exploitative images of what men want and think women should be.Many women define their own worth on what they can do for and get from a man. Some women were willing to take risks with their bodies, minds and hearts hoping to raise their socio-economic status and gain security for their children’s future, and they have learned to use their sexuality to do this. In the end this is the result of the “Willie Lynch” design for the African enslavement by creating the phenomona we call the knee-grow.

“Justice requires not only the ceasing and desisting of injustice but also requires either punishment or reparation for injuries and damages inflicted for prior wrongdoing. The essence of injustice is the redistribution of gains earned through the perpetration of injustice. If restitution is not made and reparations not instituted to compensate for prior injustices, those injustices are in effect rewarded. And the benefits such rewards conferred on the perpetrators of injustice will continue to ‘draw interest,’ to be reinvested, and to be passed on to their children, who will use their inherited advantages to continue to exploit the children of the victims of the injustices of their ancestors. Consequently, injustice and inequality will be maintained across the generations as will their deleterious social, economic and political outcomes.” -Amos Wilson

Malcolm X- “I’m Here to Collect”

If you are the son of a man who had a wealthy estate and you inherit your father’s estate, you have to pay off the debts that your father incurred before he died. The only reason that the present generation of white Americans are in a position of economic strength…is because their fathers worked our fathers for over 400 years with no pay…We were sold from plantation to plantation like you sell a horse, or a cow, or a chicken, or a bushel of wheat…All that money…is what gives the present generation of American whites the ability to walk around the earth with their chest out…like they have some kind of economic ingenuity. Your father isn’t here to pay. My father isn’t here to collect. But I’m here to collect and you’re here to pay.
