“The controllers of this society have made use of psychological warfare to erode and destroy the will and mind of Black people. This is menticide pure and simple. Once the victims discover the truth, we are forced to change our lives. But, the victim fears change because the victim doesn’t know where that change will take him or her. Indeed we fear the unknown. The victim seeks to deny but denial of this reality is problematic because the victim is reminded everyday. The victim is caught in an internal double bind, damned if they don’t, damned if they do.”- Olomenji, From an essay entitled Mentacide, Genocide and National Vision: The Crossroads for the Blacks of America.
A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend of mine about self hatred. She told me that she has heard anti-black comments from family and friends. I have also heard comments from family as well as co-workers that reek of self hatred. So I decided I would share some cooments I’ve heard over the last ten years. I’ve heard some really ignorant comments from black co-workers. These are just a few short conversations I’ve had.
I was eating lunch in the break room with a black male co-worker. There’s no one else in the room but us two.
Co-worker: Hey man,you ever screw a white girl?
Kushite: No I haven’t. I don’t really like them.
Co-worker: What?? That’s crazy man! You got to try a white girl at least once. I get tired of black women. Change it up a bit. It feels good giving it to these white girls! (laughing)
Kushite: No I’m good. They’re not my thing. I’m more attracted to black women. White girls do nothing for me. But you do what you want.( He just looked at me and shook his head in disbelief)
During a break I was talking with an African(Nigerian) co-worker. I noticed a magazine on the desk. As I flip through the magazine I see a picture of actress Lupita Nyongo.
Kushite: Now this is a beautiful woman! She is truly stunning…don’t you think?
African woman: Yes she’s kind of cute…not bad. But you know where there are beautiful woman? Have you heard of the Hausa tribe?
Kushite: Yes I believe so. Aren’t they a tribe in West Africa?
African woman: Yes they are. Many of them are so beautiful. Many are very light skinned with thin lips.
Kushite: So you’re saying they look white? Come on now!
African woman: (very defensive) No No! Not what I meant. I just mean they are very beautiful. Light skinned with pointy noses and thin lips, you know? That is all I meant.
Two co-workers (black men) were by a cubicle and talking. I was a few feet away behind them. They couldn’t see me. An African woman co-worker walked by them. She was a very dark skinned woman.
Black man #1- Did you see how dark she was?
Black man #2- Good Lord! She was dark as night! (laughing)
Black man #1- Yeah she was left in the toaster oven too long! That’s too black!(laughing)
Black man #2- Burnt to a crisp! (both men laughing)
As a side note,Black man #1 has a biracial daughter with a white woman. And is currently dating a Mexican woman. He doesn’t even look at black women. Black man #2 as a daughter with a black woman although they have since broken up. He told me he is currently engaged to a mixed woman. Mixed with what?? He told me she mixed with white and Mexican. He even showed me a picture of this below average looking woman. She looks pretty white to me. Both of these “men” are pathetic examples of the black race.
These are just a few examples that come to mind. Can you name an instance of black self hatred? Or maybe a comment that someone may have made that sounds anti-black? Something insulting about nappy hair? Or something degrading about skin color? I’m sure you’ve heard these comments before. I’d love to read your examples.
Epidemically around the world, hundreds of millions of Nappy People are afflicted with full-blown AANS, ”Acquired Anti-Nappy Syndrome.” While no nappy person is born with it, they acquire it from their parents and family. AANS victims assault their hair with scorching metal combs and grease, frying each nappy strand until it is straight, to imitate the straight limp hair and hairstyles of Caucasians. In the process, some burn their hair and scalps. Others assault their hair with “chemical relaxers” (sodium or calcium hydroxide) which are so dangerous and poisonous that it burns the scalp shortly after applied, causing blisters and even permanent scalp and hair damage if left on too long or used too often. Additionally, chemicals from these relaxers are absorbed into the bloodstream; they are carcinogenic and can even cause birth defects. And since nappy hair keeps growing out as nappy as ever, the assault must be periodically repeated to maintain artificial straightness. Thus the hair is repeatedly damaged, forced to be what it is not, forced with “lye,” to lie by lying straight. The scalps attached are likewise repeatedly damaged, by exposure to, and absorption of applied poisons.
But the worse damage appears to go unnoticed or even unacknowledged since this has become accepted “normal” behavior; this is the damage to the psyches which own the scalps. This psychological damage is “Acquired Anti-Nappy Syndrome,” a form of self-rejection and self-hatred. The outward manifestation of this inner dis-ease is the War on Nappy Hair. AANS perpetuates and holds this war in place. The War on Nappy Hair was taken to such extremes, that in some Caribbean islands during the 1980s, not only was it illegal for Blacks to have locked hair, but if they dared display it in public, they could be arrested or even shot and killed on sight by the police! who were Black themselves! And nappy foreigners sporting dredlocks, attempting to visit these areas, were detained at airports and not permitted to stay in the country unless they wore wigs or hats to hide their locks.
This means practically the whole world. Thus around the world, Nappy People have been successfully conditioned by their European colonizers to reject or scorn everything that makes them unique as Afrikan people; their sable skin of varying beautiful hues, full sensuous lips, broad noses, Afrikan culture, Afrikan names, and their divine nappy hair -spiraling hair expressing the divine Spiral Principle of Creation. The dictionary (like everything in these societies) promotes AANS by demeaning key words which commonly relate to Afrikan people. Example: “kinky,” like the word “black,” is associated with undesirable characteristics. By the same token, key words commonly relating to white people are elevated, thus “straight,” like the word “white,” is associated with desirable characteristics. Reflecting this attitude, the literature in the boxes of “chemical hair relaxers” refer to straighter hair as “fine,” and nappiest hair as “coarse.”
While it is mainly women that show the visible evidence of AANS, nappy men are just as afflicted; their compliments and attention seem to favor women wearing straightened hair; or perhaps they have little choice since AANS-afflicted women are everywhere. They are the overwhelming majority. AANS is also evident with Nappy Men today, though not as rampant as it was from the early 1900s to the 1970s.
It’s hard work to keep all that nappy hair straight. It’s time consuming as well, wasting countless hours that can be productively used in nurturing self-knowledge and self-respect. For who will respect you if you don’t respect yourself? If 90% of whites were always perming up their straight hair to imitate kinky hair, this would clearly broadcast the statement that they don’t like themselves (self-hatred); and are rejecting part of themselves. Furthermore, keeping nappy hair straight is COSTLY. In America alone, Black people annually spend billions, that’s right billions of dollars on Black hair care at a time when Black colleges, businesses and organizations are facing financial ruin.1 This stands as a shameful witness to the success of the campaign to turn Afrikans against their own natural traits and thus against themselves.
Furthermore, AANS damaged hair is probably destroyed in its ability to transmit energy or be antennae. Instead of tuning into higher vibrations, such enslaved, maligned hair probably tunes into lower energies or likely, no energy at all, since it is cooked, hence dead.
they are accepting and loving their natural spiral-hair, particularly as they awaken to knowledge of their true history, true culture, and true selves, and reject the false, anti-Afrikan history taught to them in anti-Afrikan school systems established by anti-Afrikan people. Fortunately, AANS and its outward symptoms are not permanent. As fresh new virgin hair grow out of those poisoned scalps, so can AANS exit forever.
The term itself is derived from “dread,” for locked hair was considered “dreadful” ! British soldiers coined the term “dreadlocks” during Jamaica’s colonial period, from the soldiers’ attempts to oppress the Afrikan Maroons who revolted against slavery. Now, not only is locked hair accepted, it’s even fashionable. In fact, people desiring instant long locks can now buy pre-made locks of any length or thickness, made from human hair. Thus a day is surely comin’ when Blacks stop regarding nappy hair as “bad hair,” and straighter hair as “good hair.” They will have completely thrown off the negative racist conditioning causing them to imitate their colonizers at the expense of their self respect. As a result, Acquired Anti-Nappy Syndrome will be healed. Manufacturers of hot combs and relaxers will go out of business. And Nappy People will end the War on their Nappy Hair. Once more they will esteem their precious Nappy Hair as the ancients did, as the spiraling “Hair of the Gods.”

This is a video by Tariq Nasheed. Tariq is a film producer/author/pick up artist. In this video he talks about the fake Bohemian chicks. I’ve heard this term before. Sometimes they are called fake conscious women,Hotep Hos and wannabe deep mystical women. Tariq even calls them Herbal Tea chicks. Yes he likes to be funny at times. I guess he sees himself as a comedian. Well he believes that most of them are freaks in bed and they all smoke weed. He says whether they are black or white women. Most of the white women I’ve seen who dress up like Rastafarians and wear their hair in “gold locks” are just trying to sleep with black men. White people look so silly trying to wear braids and locks in their hair. But that’s another subject. One thing I hate is broad generalizations. Most of the sistas I meet who are Afrocentric are not freaky whores. I don’t think that’s an accurate description at all. I will admit that many of them do wear their hair natural, many are vegan(not all),shop at farmers markets, into holistic health and like different oils and shea butter. But so what? There’s nothing wrong with wanting a healthier lifestyle and wearing natural hair.
I love this natural hair video. It showcases some lovely sistas. I think this whole natural hair movement is a great thing. I think it shows that black women don’t want to conform to European standards of beauty. And this hair revolution has really caught on in the black conscious community. I think we need to get rid of sick terms like “good hair”. They are self destructive terms that instill anti-blackness. Good hair is healthy hair. And I think we as black men should see this as a good thing that more black women are embracing their natural African-textured hair. Most of the conscious women I’ve met have been down to earth decent sistas. Most are not judgmental or mean spirited. Most I’ve met have been very friendly and happy to meet a brother that has knowledge of self. I’ve had great discussions with sistas about racism, feminism, misogyny, healthy diet, unemployment and the prison system. I don’t think we should make blanket statements about people like that. I don’t think we should be poking fun at people gaining knowledge of self. They should be given props for putting forth the effort.
I’ve had conscious sistas tell me they admire women like Marimba Ani,Frances Cress Welsing,Sister Souljah,Harriet Tubman,Betty Shabazz and Assata Shakur. I think it’s a beautiful thing when black women can look up to sistas who tried to uplift our people. I don’t think brothers should feel intimidated by the achievements of black women. It doesn’t mean they are anti-men at all. There’s no need to say they hate men or that they’re lesbians. I realize that there are some black feminists that do honestly hate men. I know because I have chatted with many of them on social media. But most sistas I meet are not that way. Also I think many of them have just been hurt by men in the past. And it’s really sadness that they feel and it eventually turns into anger. Black women have a right to discuss their pain and suffering. It’s okay for a sista to have an opinion. And we as black men should be open to hearing their voice. The pain that many black women feel comes from the fact that many feel no one cares about them. There are many memes on the internet that make fun of them. By ignorant black men no less. Many calling their hair ugly and nappy. And I’ve seen memes that poke fun at dark skinned women. I will be addressing this hatred of dark skin in an upcoming post. This is really anti-blackness at it’s core. So I don’t think it’s funny to make fun of my conscious sistas. At least they’re putting forth the effort to learn about African culture, history and the greatness that is in our bloodline. If anything we should be saluting these black women. Not calling them fake Bohemian chicks. It’s the same thing when they generalize conscious brothers as “fake hoteps” That will be addressed in part two.
I just want all my conscious pro-black sistas to know that I love you. Keep reading your African history books, eating vegan, burning incense, shopping at farmers markets, wearing headwraps and listening to Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu music. Keep doing your thing! Embrace your inner beauty as well as your outer beauty. And know that you truly are the physical manifestation of God. I applaud my sistas trying to better themselves and showing young black girls a better past. Many conscious sistas were on the wrong path themselves and don’t want to see the younger generation make the same mistakes. As we all know in African culture the mother is the first teacher. It’s really shame that we make fun of those who are trying to seek higher knowledge. That shows how deep this anti-blackness goes. We are a damaged people and in need of healing. So I leave you with this great video by Queen Afua. She speaks about the need for healing. Which we really need right now. And no she is not some fake wannabe conscious woman. She is the REAL deal. Peace to all my sistas. I love you. ❤
This is a new feature on my blog. I will put up videos and pictures of things that show how much anti-blackness is alive in black people. As a result of white supremacy our people still suffer from self hatred. This video is proof positive. This is from the daytime talk show,The Talk. Comedian Sheryl Underwood says that afro hair is nasty. This is pure self hatred. And to say this on national television in front of a bunch of non black people is disgraceful! She should be ashamed of herself! She has since apologized for the comments. She claims she didn’t mean it. Yeah right. The damage is already done. Watch the video and judge for yourself.
Hair is the receiver and transmitter of divine emanation it makes you receptive to spiritual forces. Saints and sages instinctively let their hair grow. Rastafarians regard dredlocks as a quality of Black people: they regard dredlocks as “high-tension wires” which transmits divine energy and inspiration from Jah (God) the creator, to Rasta, the mirror. Within our body which is the temple of God, our head, the “holy of holies,” is the highest point, while our hair, its natural crown, is like the spire of a church, our vertical connection with God. Representing our strength, it forms an antenna through which the SPIRitual force may descend. SPIRitual force, rather than “descend,” will SPIRal through SPIRaling hair. Since Nature does nothing without a reason, what is the purpose and effect of spiral-hair?
Since Nature itself is a textbook that reveals the secrets of the universe by literally expressing these principles in the actual form that something takes, my guess is that spiral-hair enhances the ability to tune in at the most detailed levels or dimensions; the micro within the macro. Both, nappy and straight haired people have “the whorl” or Big Spiral, and surely this allows tuning in at the “Big level,” while the little spirals of individual strands additionally allow the antennae to pick up detail at the most minute level (?).
Does hair antenna possess “accelerator” properties?.
An accelerator is a device used by physicists to accelerate charged subatomic particles or nuclei to high energies useful for research. Two common types are the linear accelerator and the cyclotron. The linear type accelerates in a straight path that may be as long as two miles, while the cyclotron accelerates subatomic particles in a spiral path, and takes up way less space. Theoretically, energies being picked up by the antenna of hair, would be accelerated in a spiral or straight path depending on the type of hair. Throughout Nature, spiraling energy (whirlpools, eddies, tornadoes) manifests great speeds. Water going down a drain will spiral down the drain, picking up so much speed in the process that it becomes a suction. Energy flowing through spiral hair might also pick up extra speed, enhancing hair’s antenna ability or even giving it new properties.
Certainly, energy flowing through spiral hair would also spirally enter the millions of nervepaths leading to the brain and ultimately the “third eye,” to facilitate spiritual awareness, telepathy, perception, revelation, channeling or tuning in, understanding, receptivity, thought, who knows? This area deserves research to determine and clarify the effect of spiraling hair on perception and energy reception/transmission. Melanin, which is a super absorber of all forms of energy, undoubtedly plays a huge role in this. Sensing this at some level, is this why whites call other whites who are blond, airheads?
Spiral-hair = “concentrated antennas.” The nappier
the hair, the more ‘Spiral Power’ it has
…or maybe the reverse is true! And the more concentrated, powerful, and advanced will be its abilities relating to the Spiral Principle. This is evident even physically, for nappy hair being a spring, will “snap” back to the head when pulled out and released. The more the spring is coiled, the more power it has and the less space it takes up (concentration). Right after nappy hair is vigorously brushed, the nappy hair which has accumulated in the brush holds far more electrical static charge than straight hair; thus like a magnet, it will attract light items paper for instance, whereas straight hair hardly or does not do this. Possibly, this mean that spiral hair has higher magnetic attraction for higher energies. It may also have the ability to concentrate or focus these higher energies like a magnifying lens concentrate sunrays. Whatever abilities it has are surely increased or intensified, the nappier the hair is. Thus the nappiest hair, the hair which Afrikan people are conditioned to reject and despise the most, turns out to be the most valuable, like “the stone which the builders rejected” which turns out to be the most important stone.
Does hair-antenna possess crystal properties?
Crystals have the power to receive and transmit energy waves. The earliest radios used quartz crystals and were called “crystal sets.” The main composition of quartz crystal is silicon. Silicon is also a key mineral found in the hair, and undoubtedly contributes to its antenna ability. It is no accident that silicon is also the most essential component of computers; silicon enables computers to have mind-like properties including “memory.” Silicon is also an important mineral found in the brain, which is the seat of the mind. Silicon is what gives an iridescent sheen to some fruit such as strawberries and cucumbers. It is also found in whole barley and oats.
