Amara La Negra



Danelys Diana De Los Santos, internationally known as Amara “La Negra”, has become a real star in 2013 thanks to the success of the superhit called “AYY”, a mix of Dembow and other Urban rhythms that is climbing rapidly the major American and Caribbean charts.Amara was born and lives in Miami, she is 100% American but her parents are Dominican, this strong Latin roots mixed with her purely Yankee style, have allowed her to create a unique character in Urban Music, so sexy and elegant style.

Amara has begun her journey to success, appearing at the audition for a talent show by Don Francisco, “Sabado Gigante” (the most important Latin TV show watched in the U.S. and throughout South America) where she won the first prize. The famous presenter became very close  to the child and included her in the “Clan Infantil” of the show. She has participated every Saturday for six years, practically grew up in “Sabado Gigante“.

She was a dancer of Univisión (the largest Latin television network in the U.S. and in the world), she participated in many Latin Grammy, Premio Lo Nuestro, Premio Juventud. She was testimonial in many U.S. national commercials, participated in music videos for famous artists. She also took part in small roles in series and telenovelas for Telemundo, such as “Perro Amor“, and “Diva Latina“, the first reality show produced by “Sabado Gigante” in 2008. Of the 25 participants, Amara got the third place.She also presented for MegaTV the show “A Tacón Quita’o“, together with the actress Alba Roversi and the journalist Marjorie Rubio.Amara is a charismatic and natural artist, with a stage presence and a voice of strong impact. Her voice is versatile and ranges from the Tropical to Urban Music, from Afro to Soul, to Dance, to Pop and R&B, she has also released a duet with Ricardo Montaner in “Soy Feliz

  1. What a talented beauty. I friends daughter did a mini-biography on her and found that she had some real struggles in her life. One with her weight and two with not being accepted due to her dark hue which she now plays up. In the Dominican Republic being dark skinned is not exactly welcomed. Amara La Negra made it all work for her though and is adored and a big hit there now.

    Love seeing my dark sisters get the recognition they deserve.

    • Yeah she’s been through a lot growing up as a youngster. She overcame quite a bit. Yes she is a stunning beauty! I think Amara needs more exposure though. She has the talent and looks to be an international star,don’t you think?
