Great Black Inventors

Throughout history black men and women have contributed to many inventions. When I was in school I always heard about white inventors. They only mentioned George Washington Carver that invented peanut butter. Well,we contributed a lot more than that. It gave the impression that black people were only slaves working for white slave owners. As though we contributed nothing to American society. But the reality is that despite being enslaved and marginalized we still beat the odds. White culture tries to gloss over our contributions.Did you know an African American man named Lewis Latimer who worked with Thomas Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell drew up the plans for Bell’s first telephone? If you did, you are probably among a fortunate few who possess such knowledge. It is a fact that has not been well publicized. There are countless inventions by black people and they cover everything from food processing to electrical technology. The inventions by blacks point out the contributions that we have made to the comfort and advancement of all people. We deserve our props!
